Mark Altman and Stephen D. Carl Elected as Equity Members

Naman Howell is pleased to announce that Mark Altman and Stephen Carl have been elected as equity members of the firm.

Mark Altman is based in the Waco office of Naman Howell. His practice focuses on general civil litigation and small business advice. Mark simultaneously obtained his MBA and J.D. from the Baylor University Hankamer School of Business and Baylor University School of Law.

Mark is actively involved in the Waco legal community, volunteering as legal counsel at the Baylor Law School Veterans Clinic, where he was recognized by the Texas Supreme Court for his efforts in providing pro bono legal services on behalf of indigent veterans. Mark was also recently named a Texas Rising Star by Super Lawyers, a distinction that less than 2.5 percent of Texas attorneys earn. 

Prior to joining Naman Howell, Mark served as a member of the U.S. Navy JAG Corps, working various times as a prosecutor, defense attorney, and staff judge advocate. 

Stephen D. Carl is based in the Waco office of Naman Howell. His practice focuses on civil litigation, primarily focusing on family law. He graduated cum laude from Baylor University School of Law with a special distinction in family law and served as an editor for the Baylor Law Review.

Stephen’s experience as a foster parent, adoptive parent, CASA volunteer, and attorney combine to provide him with a unique perspective and keen insight into child welfare litigation. Stephen was recently recognized in the 2025 edition of The Best Lawyers in America on the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch list in the family law category.

Before beginning his legal career, Stephen served eight years as a MEDEVAC pilot and MEDEVAC Platoon Leader for the U.S. Army.
